Proposed inhibition mechanism of host SAMHD1 on H5N1 replication. PA dephosphorylates IRF3, resulting in decreased expression of SAMHD1, which is resistant to the antiviral effect of SAMHD1. The antiviral effect of SAMHD1 was negatively correlated with its phosphorylation. PA had no significant effect on the phosphorylation of SAMHD1
