In vivo passive protection assay. Groups of two-day-old BALB/c mice were inoculated with EV71 Hn2 virus (100 LD50 per mouse) via the intraperitoneal route. Then, 24 h after infection, they were intraperitoneally administered with serially diluted 4E8 monoclonal antibody. Mice in control groups were administered with normal mice serum, death was monitored until 21 days postinfection.
