Models of complexes of H3, H7 and H9 hemagglutinins with Su-SLex. The models were generated as described in the Methods using the crystal structures of the HAs of the viruses A/Duck/Ukraine/1/63 (H3N8) [32], A/Turkey/Italy/02 (H7N1) [33] and A/Swine/Hong Kong/9/98 (H9N2) [37]. The fucose moiety and the sulfo group of Su-SLex are shown as mesh surfaces. Amino acid residues described in the text are numbered.
