Schematic overview of study design. All 191 cases examined in this study were evaluated for EqPV-H infection using PCR of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) scrolls. PCR-positive cases (42) were further analyzed by in situ hybridization (ISH) to evaluate the distribution and frequency of infected cells. Of these PCR-positive cases, 31 had evidence of hybridization. They were also analyzed by histology, with 29 samples of sufficient quality for histopathological analysis
