The resistant cassava cultivars showed full recovery from GFP-VIGS with 0 incidence and 0 average symptom severity at the end of the experiment (91 DPI), while the susceptible lines remained symptomatic with higher incidence (80–100%) and average severity score of 1.7–3.0 at the end of the experiment. Plant stems were cut back at 53 days after biolistic inoculation and CMD was assessed on new leaf growth. Breaks in the x-axis graph indicate lapse in shoot regrowth after this cut-back
