Bars denote mean ∆∆CT ± SEM with ∆∆CT values < 0 indicating up-regulation and ∆∆CT values > 0 indicating down-regulation. A two-tailed unpaired t-test was used to determine statistically significant differences in gene expression using ∆CT values and is indicated by an asterisk (*, p ≤ 0.05)
