Phylogenetic tree based in E6 variations of HPV 16. To classify the newly identified variants, their phylogenetic relationship with previously reported variants were determined, by constructing a phylogenetic tree based on E6 sequences found in Southern Mexico. The new variants are underlined. The tree is drawn to scale with branch lengths measured in the number of substitutions per site. The analysis involved 27 nucleotide sequences. All positions containing gaps and missing data were eliminated. There were a total of 456 positions in the final dataset. Analyses were conducted in MEGA5.2 [43].
