TUNEL staining and Caspase 3, 8, and 9 activities of C-PA- and WSN-infected cells. A. TUNEL assays were performed on C-PA- and WSN-infected MDCK cells at the indicated time after infection. The mean and standard deviation (error bar) of the number of TUNEL-positive cells counted from 3 random fields were calculated. B. The activities of caspases 3, 8, and 9 in C-PA- and WSN-infected MDCK cells were measured 10 hr pi. Caspase activity is expressed as the fluorescence intensity/total cellular protein (mg) calculated from 3 independent measurements. Mock: mock-infected MDCK cells.
