The DHV-1 IRES does not require intact eIF4G. (A) Flexi rabbit reticulocyte lysates were preincubated with or without recombinant FMDV L protease at a final concentration of 0, 1, 5, 25 μg/ml prior to the individual addition of the dicistronic capped RNAs indicated in the figure and translation of the reporter proteins was evaluated.
