  1. a Groups of three birds were inoculated orally, intraocularly, intranasally, and intratracheally with 5 × 106 EID50 of RGMal/01/ml. A volume of 0.6 ml or 1.0 ml of virus inoculum was used for quail and chickens, respectively. The next day after infection, three naïve birds were introduced into the same cage as the infected birds. Tracheal and cloacal swab samples were collected from the chickens every 2 days for 11 days after inoculation
