  1. Plasma viral load, CD4+ and CD8+ T cell counts were performed on the samples obtained from 15 patients. The patients showed varied level disease stage according to the T cell numbers and corresponding viral load presented. Patients 1,3,5,7 and 14 were at the late stage of the HIV infection with high plasma viral load (at least 100,000 copies of viral RNA per ml of plasma). Patients 4,8,10 and 15 had intermediate levels of plasma viral load. Patients 2,6,9,11,12 and 13 had low plasma viral load, indicating that they were at a earlier stage of their HIV infection.
