Infection of human cytomegalovirus in cultured human gingival tissue

Cells (1 × 10⁶ HFFs) or tissues were infected with each virus at 2 × 10⁴ PFU and at 10 days post-infection, cells and tissues were harvested and sonicated. The viral titers were determined by plaque assays on HFFs in triplicate experiments [46]. +++, titer similar to that of Towne_BAC; ++, titer about 10 times lower than that of Towne_BAC; +, titer at least 100 times lower than that of Towne_BAC.
