Effect of H 2 O 2 on the amount of cell-free virus and cell-associated virus. FI cells were infected with HSV-1 at an MOI of 2 PFU/cells and cultured for 18 h. Thereafter, cells were treated with H2O2 at concentrations of 0.1, 0.5, 1 and 5 mM for 2 h, and the amounts of cell-free virus (A) and cell- associated virus (B) in the cultures were determined by plaque assay. Results were compared to those for the controls and a percentage was calculated. Data are means ± SD of three determinations. Differences of means were analyzed with the unpaired t-test. * P < 0.05, ** P < 0.01 and ** P < 0.001 vs. samples exposed to H2O2 only.
